Finding Inspiration at The Wallace Collection

One of the places I was most excited to visit on our recent trip to London was The Wallace Collection. I've always been drawn to classical art and could easily spend hours wandering around a gallery, so it felt like the perfect place to take a few photographs for my new website!

When I say we took them, I really mean Oscar did. He's not a photographer, had never used my camera before and was mostly following my very vague instructions of "just keep clicking". Unsurprisingly, not every image is perfectly sharp or perfectly framed, but I don't think that's what makes them special.

Looking back through them, I don't notice the blur nearly as much as I remember how happy I was to be there. They capture the feeling of the afternoon far better than a perfectly posed portrait ever could. There's movement, laughter and a little bit of chaos, and somehow that feels much more like me.

I think that's probably why I'm so drawn to documentary photography. Beautiful photographs don't have to be perfect; they just have to make you feel something. Whether it's a wedding day, a walk through York or an afternoon spent wandering around a gallery, those are the moments I'm always chasing.
