Eddie & Romily

Picture a sunny spring morning in York. It’s a Sunday and I’m meeting Eddie and Romily, who are newly engaged, just outside Kiosk on Fossgate, one of my favourite coffee spots.

There’s a lovely connection to York with these two as well. Eddie grew up here, and Romily moved to the city in her early twenties, meeting Eddie not long after. So in a way, York has been part of their story from the beginning, which makes wandering around it for their engagement photos feel even more fitting.

They haven’t had photos taken like this before so we start off really relaxed, grabbing a coffee and chatting through things. My style, a loose plan for the morning, and what they’re actually hoping to use the photos for, which in this case is their wedding website (which I absolutely love as an idea!).

From there we head to The Minster, which always feels like the perfect starting point in York. It’s iconic, and it just makes sense to begin there.

We then wander down Duncombe Place and around St Leonard’s Place, stopping outside York Art Gallery as we go. Romily actually works on a project nearby at the moment, so she was pointing out bits of her day-to-day life around there, which felt really nice to fold into their story as we walked, before heading through the Edible Garden.

After that we take a little photo break and stroll through Museum Gardens, letting things slow down a bit. Eventually we end up at Manetti’s on Lendal for an iced coffee and a few final photos, a perfect way to finish things off.
