Places I’d Love to Photograph: York Mansion House
There are some places in York that I've walked past countless times without really stopping to appreciate them. York Mansion House was one of those places.. until recently! I went with my bestie to have a proper look around and take some portraits, and I left wondering why I hadn't been paying more attention to it as a wedding venue!
If you're looking for a beautiful, old world style, historic wedding venue right in the heart of York, I think York Mansion House could be for you…
About the venue
York Mansion House is a 300-year-old Georgian mayoral home, originally designed for entertaining and grand banquets. The interiors are absolutely beautiful, with elegant rooms and so much character a pretty incredible backdrop for wedding portraits.
It's set up beautifully for smaller, more intimate weddings, with exclusive use for ceremonies and/or receptions for 2–80 seated guests.
One thing I particularly like is that it's venue hire only, meaning you have the freedom to choose your own caterers, florist and other suppliers. They have a full catering kitchen and a list of trusted local suppliers who know the house well.
There are currently two hire options: Ceremony Only at £520 + VAT, or full-day Reception hire at £1,500 + VAT.
For a historic wedding venue in the centre of York, I think that's pretty exciting. And from a photographer's point of view? I'm already thinking about all the possibilities...
